Ferry
10/2016
New Performance Turku Festival, Turku, FI

I spent three days from the opening until the closing time (6.15-21.00 = apx 15hrs per day) on board a small passenger ferry boat in Turku, Finland. The distance between the two sides of the river where the ferry operates is small – the ride takes only about two minutes. It would be much more practical to build a bridge but locals keep the ferry in service for historic and nostalgic reasons – the ferry serves as one of the city’s symbols.

I set a rule for myself not to leave the boat, with the only exception of using a service toilet located on shore. While onboard, aside from fighting the low temperatures, I was interacting with the passengers, reading, sleeping, eating, etc.
