Maybe This World Is Another Planet’s Hell
12/2022 – 1/2023, Gallery of Fine Arts in Náchod – Small Gallery (GVUN – Malá), Náchod, CZ
The title of the performance and exhibition is a famous quote from Aldous Huxley. During the opening performance, I collected various materials around the city of Náchod – dirt, leaves, bark, water from the river, or diesel fuel. I placed them into multiple chemical containers together with my blood and hair. The performance’s finale took place inside the gallery filled with smoke whose floor was covered in black coal with interactive noise installation provided by Aloïs Yang. The walk around the town had its own artificial soundscape – I played the soundtrack from the powerful Chinese movie “Elephant Sitting Still” composed and performed by the band Hualun.
The performance brought raw emotions, dark alchemical processes, melancholy, moments of self-irony, and subtle humor to the peripheral Czech town under falling snow at the end of the year.
