Menhir Hunter
5/2014 Příbor, CZ

I installed myself as a living menhir in the family garden.

I asked my younger brother Vojtěch for assistance. At first, he dug a hole in the ground, and I recorded him on video. Then we swapped – my brother was recording me while I installed myself as the menhir. The performance was taking place in the garden in front of my parent’s house and the whole situation was observed by our mother who also appears in the video.

Dialogue moments from the video:
Mom: “Don’t hurt yourself.”
Brother: “It was his idea. I just wanted to dig the hole. Even though I don’t really know why.”
Mom: “You are such engineers … well then…”
Brother: “You won’t get black by that.”
Antonín: “Do I look like a menhir already?”
Mom: “Tony, you will break yourself this way, dummy.”
Brother: “Does it make any sense?”
Mom: “Hard to say. What’s the point of this?”
Brother: “Smile.”
